Slash: 'Velvet Revolver Don't Want To Pick Another Scott Weiland'

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has aforesaid that band's search for a raw singer is still ongoing because they don't want to find oneself another Scott Weiland.

A issue of singers, including Spacehog's Royston Langdon and Lenny Kravitz, have been linked with the position since Weiland left the group acrimoniously in April.

But Slash said that while he and the rest of the band had clicked with Langdon they in agreement that his voice was too much like Weiland's to case the group's new ambition.

"I think Royston's fantastic, simply he's more in the Scott Weiland range, which is groovy for that, but what we want to do is something aggressive and very hard rock, he told EW.

Basically, what we in the beginning planned to do the first time around that was sort of molded differently when Scott came into it."

Slash added that the search "is still on-going. Now that we have the option, we're gonna make sure we get the right-hand guy."

Kanye blames Pearl Jam for concert woes

Kanye West has apologised for his recent performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in America.

The 'Stronger' singer was booed by fans at the event after appearing on stage one-and-a-half hours late, but has blamed his tardy arrival on festival bosses.

In the latest entry on his blog, Kanye wrote: "I'm sorry to everyone that I didn't have the ability to give the performance I wanted to."

Kanye claims the band performing before him, Pearl Jam, finished their set one hour late, meaning his team did not have enough time to set up the stage before he was due to perform.

The singer is well known for his dramatic pyrotechnic show, and blasted Bonnaroo organisers for trying to make him perform in daylight.

He wrote: "We were obviously dealing with f***ing idiots who didn't really have the capacity to really put on this show properly. They tried to give me a time slot where it was still light outside. I have a light show dumbass."

Although he was willing to apologise, Kanye denies he did not put much effort into his performance.

He wrote: "Sometimes I go two, three days without sleep working on my performance. I have to ice my knees after every show and they hurt when I walk through the airport. Having an expensive stage cuts my payday in half.

"Call me what you want but never say I didn't give it my all!"

Ham Sandwich - Carry the Meek

While some sound the death-knell for the album ever louder, there are still plenty whose records drown it out. Like this one.
Freed from the constraints of cool moniker syndrome and worrying whether it fits the sound, Kells quintet Ham Sandwich turn in as assured and alluring a debut as you'll get between now and the turkey.
Two singers, the right mix of poignancy and darkness in its break-up narrative and some well-timed instrument punishment give 'Carry the Meek' a primitive power which few can summon well - the line "I think I got my hearing back" is very apt, but there's a lot done to your heart too.
And, like the most dysfunctional of couplings, you'll keep coming back. Some will find the name unforgivable, but some of the music is unforgettable.

Rhys Meyers to help Calcutta children

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has revealed his plans to champion the rights of children living on the streets of Calcutta.
The Hollywood star was unveiled at a ceremony in Dublin today as the ambassador for the Hope Foundation, a charity formed in his native Cork.
Rhys Meyers said: "I'm deeply honoured to become an ambassador for an organisation like the Hope Foundation."
"Hope, an initiative started in my native Cork over eight years ago, has provided shelter, medical care and support to some of the world's poorest and most mistreated children, the street children of Calcutta."
"If I can use my name and celebrity to advance awareness of the great work the Hope Foundation does in some small way then I am delighted to be able to do so."
Rhys Meyers plans to visit Calcutta this year to see for himself the appalling conditions the street children are forced to live in.
Hope, founded in 1999 by a group of women in Cork, works with its 13 Indian NGO partner groups to take children off the streets and improve their quality of life.
Hope director Maureen Forrest said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jonathan as our ambassador and we look forward to forging a strong relationship with him."
Rhys Meyers was named Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama for his role in 'The Tudors' at last night's Irish Film and Television Awards.
